Protect The Seed
In Matthew 13:1-9, we read about the sower who went out to sow his seed. We have come to understand that in order for seed to produce good fruit or a mighty harvest, the seed needs to be planted in good soil.
I have read this scripture many times, as well as preached it. On Sunday night the Lord deposited a seed into my spirit. He began to explain to me the importance of the deposit. Jesus bears good fruit and from that fruit, He has seed that desperately needs to be deposited in His church. It is then that the church can produce good fruit from His deposit by depositing His seed into the world.
In reading this scripture this morning, I clearly see the carelessness of the sower. If the sower had been paying attention, was focused or more thorough, maybe this seed would have made it to good soil. Now, stop thinking about what you have heard in the past or believed about what this scripture is talking about and just listen to the point I am trying to make here. The scripture says that “some seed fell.” The Greek word is pipto – to fall down from. These seeds were not strategically placed; they were thrown all over the wayside, the road, stones and thorns. The Lord spoke to me and said, “The purpose for the destruction of the seed is to destroy not the seed, but what the seed produces.”
This is why we have to protect the deposit. We have to individually protect the seed that has been deposited into each of us so it can fully mature and produce a bountiful harvest. It is harder to cut down a mature tree than it is to crush a seedling.
So I am saying three things:
Number 1 – Protect the seed that the Lord has deposited on the inside of you. Nourish it with the washing of the Word, prayer and the Holy Spirit.
Number 2 – Don’t be careless with your seed. God has given you a gift to pass on, but we don’t want the seed to be easily destroyed, which brings me to point three
Number 3 – Strategically deposit your seed in good soil. Whether it is finances, a seed of salvation, relationships, or business, make sure you are lead by the Holy Spirit and you will see your seed produce good fruit -- some hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
